Solana opens community office in New York

Solana Labs объявила об открытии four-storey public office space of 25,000 square feet in New York, United States.

The space is located in the Lower Manhattan district and serves as a venue for “co-working and events for projects in the Solana blockchain ecosystem”.

At the opening, New York officials and senior figures from Solana Labs were in attendance, including the company's co-founder Raj Gokal.

“New York has everything it needs to become a global hub for Web3. There is art, culture, innovation, technology and talent,” said Andrew Kimball, president and CEO of the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

According to Gokal, the company is “doubling down” on its efforts to “give startups a place for creativity and collaboration”.

Solana clarified that they did not purchase the offices, but leased them. The exact price was not disclosed by representatives, but they added that they signed a ten-year lease.

In February, the company decided to close two offline Solana Spaces stores in New York and Miami. Management explained that the project did not attract as many users as initially expected.

In May, sales of Solana Labs' Web3-focused Saga smartphone began. The device costs $1000 and features 512 GB of storage, two rear camera lenses, a 6.67-inch OLED display and a fingerprint scanner.
