Out of 39,148 developers who entered the industry this year, 7,625 chose Solana for building applications. This marks the first time since 2016 that the ecosystem has grown faster than Ethereum.
Ethereum maintains overall leadership in the number of developers engaged in coding across all five inhabited continents. Solana ranks as the second choice.
In third place are:
- in Asia and South America — Polygon;
- in North America — Base;
- in Africa — ICP;
- in Europe — Polkadot.
The overall number of developers in the crypto industry remains relatively stable. In 2024, their numbers decreased by 7%, but the share of those with over two years of experience rose to 27%. This group contributes 70% of the code development.
By country, the largest share of blockchain developers is in the United States at 18.7%. This figure has been steadily declining since 2015 in favor of Asia, the report’s authors noted.
India’s share has already approached 12%, and the number of new specialists from there in 2024 accounted for 17% of the total, compared to 14% for the United States.
The United Kingdom ranks third in the industry with a 4.2% share of developers. China follows closely with 4%.
Earlier, in the third quarter, the total funding for crypto startups fell by 20%. This decline occurred despite a market recovery, analysts at Galaxy Digital noted.
Meanwhile, investments in AI-related projects surged by 250%, as highlighted by Messari.
