Sotheby’s to Auction Banksy Painting ‘Love Is in the Air’ for Bitcoin

Founded in 1744, the auction house Sotheby’s will put Banksy’s work, titled “Love Is in the Air” [Love Is in the Air], up for auction. Bids will be accepted in United States dollars, Bitcoin and Ethereum.

We are seeing growing appetite among collectors for more flexible payment options in collaboration with Sotheby’s, says CoinDesk, citing the company’s chief technology officer Stefan Pepe.

Earlier, a copy of the Banksy painting titled ‘Morons’ as an NFT sold for 228.69 ETH. Before the auction, unknown individuals burned the original live on air.

In April 2021, the work ‘The Pixel’ by Murat Pak, part of Sotheby’s joint collection ‘The Fungible’, went under the hammer for $1.36 million.
