Web3-smartphones Saga by Solana began selling on eBay for prices above $2,000 due to the hype around the BONK memecoin airdrop.
Some devices fetched even higher — two phones ушли по $5000, and another acquired for $3,361. Solana smartphone sales have risen more than tenfold after traders found an arbitrage opportunity.
Saga holders receive a guaranteed airdrop of 30 million BONK. Given the recent rise in the coin, their value fully offsets the smartphone.
At peak asset levels, users received around $900 in BONK meme-cryptocurrency for a device costing $599. As of writing, this amount of BONK is worth about $610.
According to CoinGecko, the coin’s capitalization stands at $1.2 billion with daily trading volume of $537 million.
Saga also offers a number of other benefits, including a month of free access to the Helium wireless network, bonuses in the Web3 game Honeyland, early access to the Genopets project and NFT.
In early December, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said that smartphone sales were weak — around 2,200 devices had been sold at that time.
Earlier in November, CertiK analysts identified a critical vulnerability in the Web3 phone that could allow users’ cryptocurrencies to be stolen.
