Spotify begins testing NFT support
The streaming music service Spotify is exploring possibilities for using NFTs on the platform. reports Music Ally.
Using profiles of indie band The Wombats and DJ Steve Aoki, Spotify is testing the placement of NFTs that can be purchased on external marketplaces. The service does not currently plan to sell tokens directly.
Testing is being conducted for a limited number of Android app users in the United States.
If successful, the company does not rule out a full rollout of the feature for all artists.
Twitter users are also reporting Spotify conducting a poll regarding NFT, Web 3.0 and cryptocurrency.
Earlier in February, Spotify posted a senior backend developer vacancy in the growth team with the aim of boosting growth through new technologies, such as Web 3.0.
