Square opens lawyer vacancy at Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance
Square, Jack Dorsey’s payments company, opened a lawyer vacancy in the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA). The successful candidate will help the consortium make patent access freely available.
The role is open to lawyers with a technical bachelor’s degree and an understanding of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The candidate should have more than five years of experience in patent law, and be adept at negotiation and project management.
“This is a unique role that combines intellectual property protection experience, legal and business skills,” the description says.
The role involves working within the legal team and with COPA’s board. The candidate will handle intellectual property disputes that could arise from the use of COPA’s shared patent library.
Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance opens access to cryptotechnologies through a patent library. Square contends that this approach will foster innovation.
