Blockstack provided the Foundation with 100 million STX tokens to develop the network. The Foundation is seeking proposals that cover the full range of infrastructural needs for Stacks 1.0: core protocol development, educational activity, collaboration, new tools and services.
The Executive Director of the Stacks Foundation, Brittany Laflin, urged all those interested in building Web 3.0 to apply:
«We are looking not only for developers, but we want to provide resources to those with a creative vision, those who want to build communities, social channels or realise other creative ideas that benefit the ecosystem around Blockstack technology.»
The Foundation plans to expand the grants program and, potentially, the amount of the reward relative to the current beta version after the launch of Stacks 2.0. Work on Stacks 1.0 is far from finished.
In 2019, Blockstack conducted the first SEC-qualified ICO, which raised $23 million.
Now that the funds have been moved to a non-profit foundation, Blockstack’s next goal is to list the token on U.S. cryptocurrency exchanges. At present (STX) trades in pairs with Bitcoin, USDT and BNB on Binance, as well as with various coins on several smaller exchanges.
Blockstack is expected to come out from SEC oversight after the launch of the Stacks 2.0 blockchain in the third quarter of this year.
