
Starbucks selects Polygon to implement its Web3 initiative
Starbucks has teamed up with Polygon to implement a Web3 initiative aimed at expanding the customer loyalty programme. The project’s blog says.
From September 12, customers and partners can join the Starbucks Odyssey waitlist. It is planned to launch by the end of 2022.
«This new experience […] will allow members of the Starbucks Rewards loyalty programme and Starbucks partners (employees) in the United States to earn and purchase digital collectible stamps in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs)», said Polygon.
According to TechCrunch, users will be able to play interactive games or solve challenges to learn more about coffee or the company itself. By completing the so-called ‘journeys’ they will receive NFTs, each of which provides benefits at the network’s stores.
«As a leading infrastructure provider, […] Polygon provides the ideal launchpad for Starbucks’ entry into Web3», said the platform’s co-founder Sandeep Nailwal.
Earlier in August, Starbucks announced its Web3 initiative.
Earlier Burger King launched the NFT campaign Keep It Real Meals with musicians Nelly, Anitta and LILHUDDY.
