StarkWare developers unveil new L2 scaling solution for Ethereum
The StarkWare project launched on the Ethereum mainnet a second-layer scaling technology based on recursive proofs.
According to the developers, the new solution is already in use in applications built on StarkNet and StarkEx. By enabling scaling, it reduces fees, speeds up transactions, and also “prepares the ground for L3 and other benefits”.
Written in the Cairo language Cairo, recursive proofs significantly enhance the potential for L2-scaling, the company explained.
“They will allow a dramatically higher number of transactions to be settled in the Ethereum network with a single proof,” the developers noted.
According to them, the concept “presents a challenge to scalability constraints”. With the new method, multiple proofs can be combined into one.
“This is like finding a way to easily seat thousands of passengers in an airplane instead of a few hundred,” said developer Gideon Kempfer.
Earlier in July StarkWare launched the governance token for the StarkNet network.
In May the project raised $100 million in a Series D funding round. The startup was valued at $8 billion.
