StarkWare Introduces Proof Verifier for L3 Networks

The developers of the StarkNet Layer 2 solution from Herodotus, in partnership with StarkWare, have unveiled the Cairo Verifier—a system for verifying cryptographic proofs to scale L3 networks.

In a conversation with The Block, Herodotus co-founder Kasper Koziol stated that the system will be launched in the “coming weeks.”

The Cairo Verifier will allow developers to perform verifiable computations using zk-STARK on StarkNet to ensure the security of dapps on L3.

The mechanism does not engage the Ethereum mainnet and helps reduce delays and verification costs.

According to the team, the implementation of this initiative lays the groundwork for the development of the third-level solution ecosystem.

Currently, validation in StarkNet involves the SHARP prover and verifier, which sends cryptographic proofs to the Ethereum mainnet for verification. The Cairo Verifier extends the application of zk-STARK to L3 networks.

In January, StarkNet and Celestia developers agreed to collaborate to enhance data availability in the third-level solution ecosystem. The agreement involves using a modular blockchain for autonomous scaling to minimize transaction costs.

Earlier, the StarkNet community approved the deployment of the Alpha v0.13.0 update on the mainnet. The update allows for transaction fee payments with native STRK tokens alongside ETH.
