STEPN Team Adds Apple Pay Payments

The developers of the M2E project STEPN have added direct Apple Pay payments for iOS users.

To acquire NFT sneakers you must purchase special credits — ‘sparks’ — in the app, which are then exchanged for non-fungible tokens. Ten ‘sparks’ are equivalent to one dollar.

“This is a very, very big step. Nothing like this has ever been done before. Inside the company, we say that this is the most significant event taking place in cryptocurrency, and not many people know about it,” the chief operating officer said in an interview with The Block.

The update also brings improvements to the functionality and interface of the Mooar NFT marketplace, launched by STEPN developers in November 2022. According to the statement, iPhone users will be able to access the marketplace directly without leaving the app.

A project representative added that Apple’s 30% commission “is far from ideal,” but the integration will help attract more people to the project.

“Collaborating with Apple has been one of the best things to happen to our app. But for every approval, we faced countless rejections. The integration took us months,” the chief operating officer said.

Built on the networks Solana and BNB Chain, STEPN rose to prominence in the spring of 2021. It rewards users with GST and GMT tokens for walking or running. To do this, users must acquire sneakers as NFTs.

In May, Axie Infinity became available in the App Store. The app is currently downloadable only in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
