SushiSwap CTO resigns amid internal tensions

CTO of the decentralised exchange SushiSwap, Joseph Delong, has stepped down from his role, failing to win support from the project’s current team.

The conflict arose after the project head, who went by the handle 0xMaki, unexpectedly departed; Delong may have been the instigator. Along with him, some other developers left, aired the disagreements in public.

The CTO of SushiSwap called the allegations “absurd libel” and threatened to quit the project if key developers were not granted greater autonomy.

He brought before the community a proposal to allocate 200,000 SUSHI ($1.2m at the time of writing) to each of the 19 developers on the project. But it failed to gain support. Of the 97 votes cast, more than two-thirds opposed.

Delong doubted that the current chaos within SushiSwap could be neutralised. He recommended moving key positions outside the DAO and equipping them with effective governance mechanisms for managing the team.

Be wary of self-proclaimed leaders from the current core team, he warned.

Delong reminded his pledge to hand over all accounts to the next leader of SushiSwap.

As noted, the Bank for International Settlements called the decentralisation of DeFi protocols an illusion. Experts expressed confidence that there will be cases where projects will require reorganisation or assessment.
