T-Mobile Opens Probe Into Potential Data Leak Affecting 100 Million Users

T-Mobile has begun assessing the situation after a post on a hacker forum claiming the sale of data belonging to 100 million users, according to Vice.

The information accessed by the attacker includes Social Security numbers and phone numbers, names, addresses, unique device identifiers, and more. Samples viewed by Vice confirm the data pertain to T-Mobile customers.

For a package of 30 million Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses, the hacker is asking for 6 BTC.

The attacker does not claim that all the data belong to T-Mobile customers, but asserts that the information was obtained from its servers. The company itself has not confirmed the breach.

Earlier reports indicated that the Russia-linked hacker group All World Cards posted to the dark web data relating to about a million credit cards.
