Taiko Protocol Launches on Ethereum Mainnet

Taiko Protocol Launches on Ethereum Mainnet

The Taiko project, a second-layer solution for scaling Ethereum, has launched its mainnet.

According to the announcement, this follows a two-year development period. The final sixth testnet, named Katla (Alpha-6), was launched by the team in January.

Taiko employs Based Contestable Rollup—a customizable rollup design with multiple proofs.

With the mainnet launch, users can now engage in staking, gaming, or trading through decentralized applications on the network. Initially, the transition between Taiko and Ethereum via the official bridge is limited to 15-minute intervals, but developers plan to reduce and eventually eliminate these in the future.

Earlier, the Taiko team announced an airdrop of 5% of the total supply of 1 billion TKO tokens.
