Team behind Chinese blockchain platform BSN announces international expansion

China’s government-backed blockchain platform Blockchain Services Network (BSN) plans to begin international expansion. This was stated by Red Date Technology CEO He Yifan in an interview with CNBC.

Red Date Technology provides technical support to BSN and is responsible for the platform’s development on the global market. According to He Yifan, the launch of the international version of the product under the name BSN Spartan Network is scheduled for August.

The CEO of Red Date Technology stressed that Spartan Network will consist of “half a dozen public blockchains” without the use of digital assets. The latter, as Yifan acknowledged, threatens to slow the product’s progress, because “most industry participants understand only cryptocurrency.”

Another potential obstacle is the project’s association with the government of the PRC.

“That is why after the August launch we will immediately open the source code […]. The aim is to reduce the cost of using public networks to a minimum so that more traditional IT systems and businesses can use them as part of their infrastructure,” He Yifan said.

In 2020 the platform introduced the international version of its site and added support for six public blockchains: Ethereum, EOS, Nervos, Tezos, NEO and IRISnet. This allowed third-party developers to create decentralized applications and deploy them remotely on the project’s infrastructure.

Later the list was expanded to include the cross-chain protocol Polkadot, the Oasis Network cloud computing service and the Bityuan project, as well as Everscale (formerly Free TON).

In autumn 2021, Red Date Technology announced the launch of network portal operators in Turkey, Uzbekistan and South Korea. The company also did not rule out entering the US, Europe and Australia at that time.

Earlier in January 2022, it emerged that BSN planned to deploy infrastructure to support NFT, not related to cryptocurrencies.
