Telegram adds native payments within chats and channels
The Telegram team has released a new version of the messenger with the ability to pay for goods within the service.
\n
The messenger has partnered with eight payment services: Yandex.Money, Sberbank, Stripe, LiqPay, Payme, Tranzzo, CLICK and ECOMMPAY.
\n
The new feature is available in any chat, including groups and channels.
\n
For payments, any app can be used, including the desktop version of Telegram. Users also gained the ability to leave tips to support their favourite author, café or store.
\n
\”The messenger does not charge any commission and does not store users’ payment information,\” Telegram said.
\n
Payment bots have existed in Telegram since 2017. With them, users can securely pay for goods and services such as pizza delivery without leaving the app.
\n
Earlier reports said that Telegram began preparations for an initial public offering (IPO), which could take place by the end of 2023.
