Telegram to Reward Content Creators with Toncoin
Telegram is set to reward content creators and enable cryptocurrency purchases for goods. This announcement was made by the messaging app’s founder, Pavel Durov, during the Token2049 conference in Dubai.
According to Durov, starting next week, the company will allow tipping in cryptocurrency based on the TON blockchain. Content creators will receive up to 70% of the revenue.
Additionally, the messenger will introduce the option to purchase digital goods using cryptocurrency, with sellers receiving 70% of the revenue.
Users will also have the opportunity to earn 95% royalties on usernames and anonymous NFTs on the TON blockchain. These NFTs could include emojis and stickers.
Durov also mentioned the already implemented reward distribution for advertising in Telegram channels.
He noted that the messenger has deeply integrated blockchain technology.
“Telegram loves blockchain because it is a technology of freedom. This is what our company promotes,” he remarked.
In the past 24 hours, TON has risen by 18.2%, according to CoinGecko. At the time of writing, the asset is trading above $7.1.
Following Durov’s speech, the TON price sharply fell from around $7.2 to $6.5.

Earlier, it was reported that Tether added support for the TON network by issuing tokens worth $10 million.
