Telegram’s Reserves Surpass $500 Million Excluding Cryptocurrencies
By the end of 2024, Telegram’s total revenue exceeded $1 billion, marking its first profit since the start of monetization, according to the messenger’s founder, Pavel Durov.
He noted that over the year, the number of Telegram Premium subscribers tripled, surpassing 12 million. Advertising revenues also showed growth.
“We are closing the year with more than $500 million in cash reserves, excluding crypto assets,” Durov wrote.
He also mentioned that over the past four years, Telegram raised about $2 billion through debt financing.
“We repaid a significant portion of it this autumn, taking advantage of favorable bond prices,” the businessman added.
The messenger plans to develop innovative monetization methods to achieve financial sustainability while maintaining independence and respecting user rights.
Earlier, the FT reported that deals with Toncoin created a financial buffer for Telegram.
In November, the messenger introduced a major update for mini-applications.
