On February 14, MerkleBot launched an autonomous telescope in the Chilean Atacama Desert with remote access for capturing images and minting NFT postcards. ForkLog was told this by project representatives.

To operate the telescope, users require the polkadot.js plugin. The telescope is launched by a transaction and mints NFTs on the RMRK Singular platform on the Kusama network. Settlement takes place in the stablecoin STRGZN. The price of a single shot is 25 STRGZN.

“The telescope enables observing deep space, and its desert location allows for obtaining the best shots free from light pollution from cities,” MerkleBot representatives said.

The telescope operates daily from 05:00 to 12:00 MSK.

“The telescope’s availability depends on weather in Chile at the time of your request. This limits the number of NFTs that can be physically issued,” the developers added.

The Robonomics team is involved in the project. In 2022 they planned to launch a full-fledged application.

Earlier in January, the Singaporean company SpaceChain announced a successful launch of a payload into space, integrated with a Velas blockchain node.
