
Tendermint, Citizen Cosmos and Cyber Academy to host hackathon with $31,000 prize pool
The Tendermint project has opened registration for HackAtom RU 2021 with a prize fund of $31,000. The hackathon will run from March 15 to 31.
The aim of the hackathon is to create DeFi projects on Cosmos and to utilise the IBC protocol within them. Also, as part of the Pre HackAtom Translation Challenge, participants will translate Cosmos documentation into Russian.
Among the organisers are Tendermint, Citizen Cosmos and Cyber Academy.
Schedule for HackAtom RU 2021 (MSK):
- registration — until March 26, 19:00;
- applications — from March 15 to March 26 at 19:00;
- workshops — from March 16 to 25;
- community voting for the best project — from March 27 to 30;
- winners announced — March 31 at 15:00.
HackAtom RU 2021 Rules
Team size is not limited. You can communicate and consult in the hackathon chat, group with mentors or on other resources. The organisers recommend using open-source tools and libraries for development.
Participation rules:
- submit an application on the hackathon page on Devpost;
- start development no earlier than 19:00 on March 15. Only projects created during the hackathon period may participate;
- submit an application with a link to GitHub and the project code;
- include a file with the project presentation;
- if you are working as a team, submit a single application with the names of all participants. Make sure they are registered on Devpost.
To receive a prize from the main fund you must pass KYC.
Prizes and categories
A guaranteed prize — a $50 gift card for purchases in the Cosmos store. It will be awarded to every team that submitted an application for the hackathon.
The HackAtom RU 2021 prize fund is $20,000 in the main categories and $11,000 for sponsor tasks.
Prize categories:
- $8,000 for developing a DeFi product using IBC and Cosmos-SDK. Example — an automated market maker (AMM);
- $5,000 for developing an NFT product on Cosmos-SDK. Example — an NFT wallet;
- $5,000 for developing products using IBC. Example — a blockchain explorer with IBC support;
- $1,000 for the project that earns the most votes from other hackathon participants;
- $11,000 for solving sponsor tasks.
In addition, up to 20 participants will receive a prize for translating the documentation into Russian. From February 17 to March 10, Tendermint will distribute $1,000 among them.
After the hackathon, Citizen Cosmos will record a special podcast episode with the winners in each category.

As reported, last month the Chinese national blockchain platform BSN added support for Cosmos.
