Tesla Seeks Trainers for Optimus Robots, Offering $48 Per Hour

Tesla is offering up to $48 per hour for training the Optimus robots in human motor skills, according to a recently published job listing.

Job requirements include:

  • walking for more than seven hours a day;
  • lifting up to 30 pounds (13.6 kg);
  • wearing a motion capture suit and virtual reality headset for extended periods;
  • being between 155-170 cm in height.

Previously, the company showcased the process of training Optimus and invited individuals to join the team.

According to Business Insider, Tesla has hired over 50 employees for this role in the past year.

Motion capture is a common method for teaching robots human-like movements. In June, the company demonstrated Optimus walking and performing tasks.

Senior Research Scientist at Nvidia Research, Animesh Garg, noted that millions of hours of data might be required before the robots are ready to work in the electric vehicle manufacturer’s factories.

Elon Musk has stated that Optimus will elevate Tesla’s market capitalization to $25 trillion. He promised to commence limited production of humanoid robots in 2025.
