In the Russian Federation, the exchange’s office was located in “Moscow-City”. Its branches were also opened in Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

Update:

Representatives from Tetchange told ForkLog they had a comment on the situation.

“The incident was entirely provoked by scammers. To avoid unnecessary complications, we paused our work. The problem is now resolved and there is no threat of such an incident to our database; we have resumed our activities,” the exchange’s representatives said.

They also added that, at present, the exchange provides services only in Russia, Armenia and Georgia.

According to Chainalysis, from 2019 to 2021 Tetсhange processed transactions totaling $21.9 million. Of these, 21% — $4.6 million — were related to laundering funds obtained criminally, according to the service.

In particular, analysts claim that the exchange received more than $1 million from darknet marketplaces and $600,000 from ransomware operators.

Earlier, the organization Transparency International Russia found that exchanges from “Moscow-City” help cash out USDT in the United Kingdom.
