Tether has integrated a ZK-Rollups scaling solution

The issuer of the stablecoin Tether has added support for a second-level ZK-Rollups scaling solution, The Block reports.

The ZK-Rollups technology bundles several transactions into one, reducing the load on the Ethereum mainnet.

According to Tether’s chief technology officer, Paolo Ardoino, transactions of Ether, ERC-20 tokens and smart contracts will be compressed.

“ZK-Rollups is the most comprehensive and preferred scaling solution. It allows keeping data on the main chain without relying on a sidechain,” noted Ardoino.

Tether is the second-largest gas consumer in the Ethereum network after Uniswap, and places a heavy load on the blockchain.

Last week, Tether transferred 3 million USDT to the OMG Network sidechain, also aimed at scaling the mainnet.
