Tether Reports Quarterly Profit of $4.9 Billion

Tether International Ltd. recorded a net profit of $4.9 billion in the second quarter. Auditor BDO confirmed the adequate backing of assets, as stated in the report.

From April to June, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin released coins worth $13.4 billion, and $20 billion since the beginning of the year. The total circulating supply exceeded 157 billion USDT.

The firm has become one of the largest holders of U.S. government bonds, amounting to $127 billion.

“This significant milestone comes at a time when American policymakers, through the GENIUS Act, have taken decisive steps to strengthen the global leadership of the dollar in digital form,” the document states.

The organization’s shareholder equity “remains stable compared to the previous quarter” and stands at approximately $5.47 billion. These excess reserves serve as a buffer against shocks, allowing independence from market cycles, Tether noted.

The company reinvested a significant portion of recent profits into long-term strategic initiatives. Key projects include XXI Capital and Rumble.

Tether is also actively supporting areas such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy sources, and digital communications. In total, the issuer has invested around $4 billion.

“As regulators formalize the foundations of digital dollars, Tether serves as a living, proven model of what stablecoin innovation can achieve: transparency, resilience, and global reach. USDT helps billions access the stability of the dollar, and this mission has never been more urgent and relevant,” emphasized the company’s CEO, Paolo Ardoino. 

Earlier, Tether reported that by the end of the second quarter, nearly 250,000 “gold” stablecoins were in circulation. The backing of XAUT consists of 7.6 tonnes of precious metal.
