Tether returned $1 million to user who sent USDT to the wrong address

The CTO of Bitfinex and Tether, Paolo Ardoino, said that USDT tokens worth $1 million were returned to the user who sent funds to the wrong smart contract address.

“Use DeFi projects at your own risk. At least make sure you are using USDT from Tether,” emphasized Ardoino.

The managing partner at Primitive Ventures, Dovey Wan, on September 8 said that a user had accidentally sent USDT worth $1 million to an incorrect address of the Swerve.Finance project.

Earlier Protocol Podcast host Eric Saviks lost $120,000 in Bitcoin after using a fake Keep Key crypto-wallet extension.

The community came to the aid of the hapless user — within a day, one-sixth of the stolen amount had been reimbursed. Later, Twitter users questioned Saviks’s honesty, spotting his name in the Panama Papers.
