
The Metropolitan Museum of Art to return $550,000 donated by FTX
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will return $550,000 donated previously by the platform, following discussions with FTX’s creditors. This follows from материалов для суда.
The museum received from the FTX-affiliated firm West Realm Shires Services the sum in two installments: $300,000 in March 2022 and $250,000 two months later.
The initiative was carried out as part of efforts to recover donations from politicians as well as various organisations. According to court documents, the figure may amount to $93 million.
According to Unusual Whales, to date funds have been returned or a pledge to do so has been announced for only 19 of the 180 recipients of donations from the exchange’s politicians.
On November 11, 2022, FTX Group filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
US prosecutors indicted former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried on 13 criminal charges, including offering a bribe of at least $40 million to at least one Chinese official. He has not pleaded guilty to any count.
Earlier, the Charity Commission for England and Wales opened an investigation into Effective Ventures Foundation, which had been backed by FTX.
