The most eye-catching—and absurd—AI gadgets at CES 2025

From 7 to 10 January 2025, Las Vegas hosts the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s largest consumer-electronics expo. Decrypt compiled a list of the most intriguing—and sometimes absurd—AI-powered devices.

Saros 270 robot vacuum

Roborock has developed the Saros 270, a robot vacuum fitted with a robotic arm to push aside small objects.

The gadget is small, so it can manage only lightweight items and toys—such as shoes and socks. It cannot put them in a bin or make a room tidier; it simply moves things from one spot to another.

SwitchBot K20+ Pro

SwitchBot K20+ Pro is “the Swiss army knife among robot vacuums”. The gadget is a general-purpose domestic helper. It not only ferries a humidifier around, but also slips between rooms, collects floating pet hair, cools the air and can pick up a food delivery.

It resembles a whimsical butler on wheels.

Samsung Vision AI — TV intelligence

Samsung’s Vision AI sits within the SmartThings ecosystem and uses artificial intelligence to analyse surroundings and adapt to user preferences. Features include generating digital art for wallpapers and screensavers, and real-time subtitle translation during live broadcasts.

Omnia Smart Mirror

Withings unveiled the Omnia Smart Mirror, which uses artificial intelligence to track health metrics. Scales and sensors to analyse heart rate are integrated into the platform.

Health data appear directly in the mirror.

LeafyPod planter

LeafyPod is a smart, self-watering planter that simplifies plant care. Sensors monitor soil condition, light, temperature and humidity, automatically adjusting irrigation schedules to a plant’s needs.

The water reservoir can maintain the required moisture level for up to four weeks, and a mobile app lets users track plant and environmental metrics.

Afeela electric car

Sony and Honda showcased the Afeela electric vehicle with AI features and sensors (cameras, LiDAR, radar and ultrasonic devices) to enhance driving.

Drivers can control vehicle functions from the cabin using voice prompts.
