The operator of NFT games Animoca Brands сообщил that PwC Hong Kong acquired a plot of virtual land on The Sandbox platform. The project’s SAND token jumped about 9% within an hour.
At the time of writing, SAND was trading near $5.82.
Animoca Brands did not specify which exact land plot was purchased or the price.
According to DappRadar, The Sandbox app was used by about 4,500 users in the last 30 days. According to OpenSea, over the last three months the average price of a land plot on the platform was about 2.45 ETH ($9,665 at the current rate).
“The metaverse offers organisations opportunities to create value through innovative business models, as well as new ways to interact with customers and communities. We will use our expertise to advise clients looking to immerse themselves in the metaverse across the full spectrum of potential issues”, — said PwC Hong Kong partner William Gi.
PwC Hong Kong is part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited network, which operates in 156 countries. According to the press release, the acquisition was made on behalf of a specific entity, not the parent organisation.
Animoca Brands believes that firms like PwC Hong Kong could play a key role in developing an open metaverse. In particular, they could help build an ecosystem friendly to brands that are not familiar with Web 3.0.
Since early 2021, Animoca Brands’ revenue has stood at about $529.6 million.
