The9 expands mining capacity by 40 PH/s through MicroBT hardware
NiuLian Technology, the Nasdaq-listed subsidiary of The9 Ltd, for the second time purchased Bitcoin miners from MicroBT. This has increased the company’s total hash rate by 40 PH/s.
The second batch consists of 482 WhatsMiner M31S+ devices.
The hash rate of each ASIC miner is approximately 80–86 TH/s, with power consumption ranging from 3,360 to 3,520 W.
The9 and MicroBT signed a framework agreement for strategic cooperation in February this year. The9 will buy 5,000 WhatsMiner ASIC miners over the course of the year.
Earlier in January 2021, The9 announced its entry into the cryptocurrency mining industry. Within two days of the announcement, its shares jumped 140%. In the same month, the company purchased 26,007 miners for Bitcoin mining.
In March, The9 signed an agreement with Bitmain to purchase 24,000 Bitcoin miners of the Antminer S19j. Deliveries will begin in November 2021.
