The9 invests in a 100-MW Kazakh data centre
The subsidiary NBTC Limited, owned by Chinese The9, signed an agreement with KazDigital to build a data centre with a capacity of 100 MW.
According to the press release, the project is split into four phases. In each phase, 25 MW of capacity will be brought online; the first phase was completed on August 1.
The9 sent 1,000 miners to Kazakhstan to test the data centre’s operation.
KazDigital declined to comment further.
Earlier this year, The9 announced its entry into the mining industry.
In June it emerged that The9 acquired Montcrypto, a ‘green’ mining company, and in July the firm entered into an agreement to install equipment for cryptocurrency mining with the Russian company BitRiver.
