Three former police officers jailed for five years over seized mining equipment

Ex-police officers from Vyazemsky district of Smolensk Oblast were found guilty of abuse of power and official forgery. This is according to Interfax citing law enforcement authorities.

In February 2018 they seized mining equipment from a shopping centre valued at over 40 million rubles, on the pretext of electricity theft.

The court sentenced the defendants to five years in a general-regime penal colony.

Earlier became known that the court had begun considering the case of former FSB investigators, accused of extorting 65 million rubles in bitcoins.
