Over the past week the number of tokenized BTC on Ethereum rose by more than 20,000. This is a new all-time high, according to BTC on Ethereum and DeFi Pulse.
The amount of BTC locked at the moment rose to 87,752 BTC.
According to DefiPulse, on September 2 the total value locked in DeFi protocols reached $9.6 billion. After that, a downturn began, coinciding with Bitcoin’s correction to around $10,000.
More than 50% of the coins (52,019 BTC) are locked in WBTC, and their total in the Ethereum network at the time of writing stands at 78,112.
As reported, in early September the price of bitcoins on the Lightning Network reached a new all-time high of $12.4 million. Since the beginning of the year, the metric has risen by 24%.
Experts were talking about a boom in tokenized bitcoins earlier in the summer.
