TON Blockchain Resumes Operations After Outage
Developers of TON have restarted the network following a block generation failure, which lasted approximately six hours.
TON is now producing blocks normally!

The issue arose due to abnormal load, the team explained.
“Several validators cannot clear the database of old transactions, leading to a loss of consensus,” the statement said.
The solution involved restarting nodes at 04:00 UTC (07:00 Kyiv/MSK) “with specific flags.”
Justin Heon, Chief Investment Officer of TON Foundation, clarified that the network overload was caused by “garbage” operations with DOGS.
@cburniske
+ Network overload due to $DOGS txs overload
+ Garbage collection overloaded many of validators for enough time for them to lose consensus
+ To restore consensus validators will be called upon to restart at 4:00 UTC on/around same time with specific flags— Justin (@maverickqe) August 28, 2024
To restore consensus, validators had to clear the database of old transactions and blocks.
On August 26, the listing of DOGS on exchanges significantly increased the load on the blockchain, developers reported. The number of requests reached up to 150,000 per minute.
According to Mikko Ohtamaa, co-founder of the Trading Strategy platform, TON’s infrastructure failed a stress test triggered by the meme token airdrop. Amid a sharp spike in transactional activity, the network’s throughput reached only 280 TPS, which is far less than the claimed 55,000 TPS, the expert noted.
Looks like @ton_blockchain failed stress test, as infrastructure crashes in DOGS airdrop.
Only max of 280 TPS (transactions per second) reached. This is far less than earlier claimed theoretical 55,000 TPS. https://t.co/GrXb8OQWZo pic.twitter.com/mMTELqRnMM

On August 25, the TON team changed the logo in community communication channels to the avatar of the Resistance Dog (REDO) coin in support of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, who was detained in France on Saturday. The action drew attention to the meme coin, causing a sharp rise in price and trading volumes.
Back in June, the TON ecosystem faced mass phishing attacks aimed at asset theft.
