TON Space Enables Fee Payments with Telegram Stars

The developers of the non-custodial wallet TON Space have introduced the option to pay network fees using Telegram Stars. According to them, this solution will simplify cryptocurrency transactions for the messenger’s millions of users and facilitate the purchase of digital goods in mini-apps.

“Using Stars to pay blockchain fees will promote broader adoption of the TON blockchain, ensuring seamless and straightforward transactions,” said Andrey Rogozov, CEO of The Open Platform.

The payment mechanism will be integrated similarly to the Battery feature in the Tonkeeper wallet. It uses a prepaid balance for “charging” and automatically covers transaction fees when necessary. 

Back in December 2024, TON Space completed its beta testing phase. The number of accounts exceeded 100 million.

Earlier that summer, developers of TON and Tonkeeper rolled out support for gas-free transactions in the new W5 Smart Wallet standard.
