Tornado Cash’s Ethereum mixer enables sending arbitrary sums of ETH

The Tornado Cash Ethereum mixer has rolled out the Nova pool, which enables depositing and withdrawing arbitrary amounts of ETH, ForkLog has learned from project representatives.

Previously, users could deposit only predefined amounts.

Nova also provides the ability to perform ‘shielded transfers’ of deposited tokens without withdrawing them from the pool. These are transfers between addresses used for authentication in a dapp. Their registration takes place with the first deposit.

Because Nova is in beta, user deposits are capped at 1 ETH. Subsequently, if the community decides to raise the limit [1 — acid], the amount may be increased.

For transfers, the new pool uses the xDai sidechain. According to the developers, it was chosen for the ability to quickly move assets to the Ethereum mainnet (a few minutes vs three hours on Polygon).

To deter spam attacks on the bridge contract, the minimum withdrawal amount is capped at 0.05 ETH.

The Nova smart contract was audited by Zeropool.

Earlier in November, Tornado Cash developers announced integration with the Arbitrum One layer-2 network.
