Triller seeks $10m for NFT knockout video from Jake Paul fight

TrillerNet, the operator of a rival app to TikTok, opened a new platform for trading non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The first asset for sale is the knockout video of YouTuber Jake Paul in a boxing bout against former NBA star Nate Robinson.

The buyer will own a 30-second clip of the bout’s ending as an NFT. The lot can be purchased for $10 million without bidding. The current bid at the time of writing stands at $10,456.

The bout between Paul and Robinson took place in November 2020.

The auction for the sale of the digital asset will close on April 17 after the next bout featuring the YouTube blogger. His opponent will be former mixed martial arts fighter and now crypto trader Ben Askren.

According to a statement from Triller NFT Marketplace, the platform for the first time offered a \”future NFT\” option — the lot buyer will also own video of the last 30 seconds of the upcoming fight as a digital asset.

“Undoubtedly, in the event of another knockout, the winning bidder will own part of the most important moments of entertainment culture of 2020 and 2021,” said Triller CEO Mike Lu.

As of February’s peak the average NFT price fell by 67%. CEO Psyops Capital called the market correction a \”quiet crash\”.

Digital artist Mike Winkelmann (Beeple), whose NFT work has been sold for a record $69.3 million to date, called the sector a bubble.
