TRON Team to Develop Bitcoin Layer 2 Scaling Solution

Justin Sun, the founder of TRON Foundation, has announced plans to develop a Layer 2 network based on TRON to scale Bitcoin. The roadmap includes integrating a cross-chain solution to connect tokens from both ecosystems.

Digital gold is already accessible through cross-chain solutions for TRON with conversion options via exchanges.

According to the entrepreneur, the roadmap outlines the organization’s commitment to enhancing the functional interoperability and utility of blockchain technologies, setting a new standard for the industry’s future.

In the first phase of implementation, TRON DAO also plans to invest in a “user-friendly wallet and tools to support BRC-20 tokens,” which also implies support for Ordinals technology.

In the next phase, the organization plans to collaborate with several Bitcoin Layer 2 protocols. Sun expects TRON users to begin participating in initiatives to develop second-layer solutions.

The final stage of the roadmap involves creating its own Layer 2 network, which will integrate TRON, BTCC, and the Bitcoin blockchain. It will implement a protocol compatible with the first cryptocurrency, aimed at maintaining the speed and low fees of PoS systems while ensuring PoW security.

Back in January, blockchain project Bitfinity, developing a Bitcoin Layer 2 network based on Internet Computer, raised $7 million.

In December 2023, the largest DEX Uniswap expanded operations to the Bitcoin ecosystem by integrating the Rootstock sidechain.
