Tucker Carlson’s Affection for Bitcoin and CIA Conspiracy Theories
American journalist Tucker Carlson holds the first cryptocurrency in high regard, yet he is convinced it was created by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
During a private event at Bitcoin 2024, the former Fox News host remarked that Bitcoin is the “best in the world” tool for ensuring financial sovereignty.
“Obviously, it was the CIA, we all know. It’s like Signal, they got there first. It’s a trap!” Carlson chuckled.
According to him, crypto enthusiasts are very intellectual and seemingly can answer any questions except those concerning the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto:
“Someone has to answer. I think we know who.”
However, this fact “does not make Bitcoin any less significant in transforming the history of technology,” the journalist believes. He also noted that the cryptocurrency “gives the average person the freedom to conduct their affairs without oversight or control [from the government].”
Nonetheless, for the full potential of digital gold to be realized, it must first overcome the barrier of being accepted as a medium of exchange, rather than just a store of value, Carlson emphasized. To achieve this, it is necessary to convince the public to accept payments in Bitcoin and make it more private.
“If you can find a way to solve these problems, I would liquidate [my other positions] and put everything into Bitcoin. Seriously. [The first cryptocurrency] is the key to preserving the country I grew up in,” he concluded.
Bitcoin and the CIA
The theory of American intelligence agencies’ involvement in the creation of Bitcoin technology is quite widespread, so social media reacted strongly to Carlson’s statements.
The journalist’s remarks caught the attention of English conspiracy theorist David Icke.
If the CIA started Bitcoin, Tucker, and now Trump and his Silicon Valley coterie are pushing it, then do think by any chance that there might be more to know? https://t.co/U4JHoWP5ah

“If the CIA created Bitcoin, and Tucker along with Trump and his Silicon Valley entourage are promoting it, then do you by any chance think there might be more to know?” he noted.
The author of the book series “The Bitcoin Standard” Saifedean Ammous also joined the discussion, highlighting the transparency of the first cryptocurrency’s code:
“There is nothing in it but software that you can study yourself. Thousands of people have read it over fifteen years.”
A developer under the nickname omerskywalker pointed out that the GPS system was created by the U.S. Department of Defense, yet this does not prevent anyone from using the development.
Exactly — and GPS was created by the DoD.
That doesn’t stop anybody from utilizing the technology.
The fact that it works 10x better than alternatives and improves quality of life by reducing cognitive load makes it a no brainer.
Same with Bitcoin.

“The fact that it works 10 times better than alternatives and improves quality of life by reducing cognitive load makes it obviously appealing. The same goes for Bitcoin,” he added.
Earlier, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink called digital gold a legitimate financial instrument.
Back in July, billionaire Mark Cuban suggested that amid geopolitical uncertainty and the failure of the dollar as a reserve currency, Bitcoin could become a global “safe haven.”
