Twitter, blocked in Russia, launches Tor version

The social network Twitter, blocked in Russia, launched a version of its service on the Tor network.

Tor has also been added to the list of officially supported Twitter browsers.

Users could previously access Twitter via Tor; however, the new version adds more layers of protection and anonymity and is designed specifically for the network, The Verge reports.

Developer Alec Muffett, who published the news on Twitter, called the post about launching the social network on the Tor network “perhaps the most important and long-awaited tweet” he has ever written.

On March 4, Roskomnadzor blocked access to Twitter and Facebook. Earlier the agency tried to restrict access to Tor.
