Uber Introduces AI Assistant for Drivers

At the GO-GET Zero event in London, Uber announced the launch of an AI assistant for drivers, powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o.

Initially, the neural network will only address questions related to electric vehicles. It will assist in locating charging stations or advising on which vehicle to purchase. Future integration will expand to other uses.

Access to the AI assistant will be available on the main screen of the Uber driver app. The chatbot will be regularly updated and is capable of providing personalized responses based on the driver’s needs and city of residence.

This initiative is part of the company’s effort to promote the use of electric vehicles. Customers will be able to choose cars with fully electric powertrains.

The previously launched “Uber Green” feature included hybrids, but now battery electric vehicles will remain the only “green” option.

The AI initiative is accompanied by an “electric vehicle mentorship program.” High-rated drivers with experience in electric vehicles can assist newcomers and earn additional income.

Back in July, Uber and other tech companies warned of AI risks to their business models.
