Ukraine's digital transformation minister signals salaries paid in digital hryvnia

Employees of Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation could be among the first to receive salaries in the central bank’s digital currency, the development of which is being carried out by the central bank. This was reported by the ministry’s head Mikhail Fedorov in an interview with TSN.

The initiative is one of the pilot projects under consideration by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

According to Fedorov, the digital currency needs to be thoroughly tested before launch.

“The use of the electronic hryvnia indeed has the potential to programmatically set possible directions and conditions for the use of subsidies, for example, to limit their non-target use,” he added.

Earlier, on June 30, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law, which, among other things, regulates the general principles of issuing central bank digital currencies. In July it was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
