Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation denies cooperation with the OneCoin pyramid

Participants in the OneCoin cryptocurrency pyramid have spread false information about a partnership with Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation. The ministry has already denied any such agreements, local media report.

During an online conference, representatives of OneCoin announced they had obtained the status of “official provider of virtual asset services” in Ukraine.

As evidence, they presented a letter addressed to one of the company’s founders, Luka Miatton, allegedly signed by Deputy Minister Aleksei Vyskub.

The ministry said the letter is a forgery.

“The Government of Ukraine did not announce ‘cooperation with OneLife’ or the ‘introduction of the OneCoin cryptocurrency.’ The information contained in the letter does not correspond to reality,” the statement said.

The ministry has referred the matter to law enforcement authorities over the spread of false information.

As reported, the damage from the OneCoin pyramid scheme is estimated at at least $4 billion. The whereabouts of the alleged mastermind Ruja Ignatova have been unknown since 2017.

She did not respond to the notice of the fraud case.

In March 2021 authorities arrested Franka Shnayder on the basis of an international warrant issued by a New York court.
