Former Ukrainian MP Dmitry Golubov has been appointed as an aide to the head of the political council of the parliamentary faction “Opposition Platform – For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk. The information appeared on the Verkhovna Rada’s website.
Golubov became the aide to the politician on a voluntary basis.
The godfather of Medvedchuk’s daughter is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the 2019 income declaration, Dmitry Golubov owns 4,376 BTC (more than $275 million at current prices).
According to The Wall Street Journal, the former MP is the leader of the hacker group Carderplanet, which stole at least $11.4 million from American bank accounts.
In July 2005, Golubov was detained in Odessa on suspicion of creating a criminal organisation. He spent six months in Kyiv’s Lukyanivske SIZO, after which he was released on bail of 100,000 hryvnias. The politician denies his guilt.

Representatives of the National Agency on Preventing Corruption intend to examine officials who own cryptocurrencies, including the origin of funds for buying digital currencies.
