Law enforcement officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region uncovered a mining farm illegally connected to the power grid. The МВД Украины reported this.
The farm was discovered on the premises of a non-operational backup substation belonging to a municipal utility.
During searches, police seized equipment valued at about 4 million hryvnias (nearly $146,000 at the time of writing). The loss amount is being determined.
The investigation continues; authorities are seeking the operators of the farm. They face up to twelve years in prison.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered in the Kyiv region an illegal mining farm, whose owners allegedly stole electricity worth 3.5 million hryvnias (over $128,000).
