Ukrainian startup to launch cryptocurrency course in partnership with the UN
The Ukrainian startup Global Ledger has partnered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to launch a new course on cryptocurrencies, ForkLog has learned from project representatives.
The educational initiative focuses on countering the illicit use of digital assets.
This will be the third such program on virtual assets for UNODC. It will be based on Global Ledger’s seven-year track record in blockchain, the practice of customer due diligence and on-chain analytics.
During the course, participants will be able to:
- conduct real cybercrime investigations;
- examine violations of regulatory frameworks using professional solutions (including GL-Vision);
- gain hands-on experience based on historical data as well as on live cases.
The course is already used to train representatives of Ukraine’s Cyber Police, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the State Financial Monitoring Service. In the context of ongoing hostilities, the program aims to teach detection and prevention of cryptocurrency use in criminal and terrorist activities and in evading international sanctions, Global Ledger noted.
“I would emphasise the importance of public-private partnerships between international organisations and government bodies with analytical blockchain companies. Joint efforts allow us to make the crypto market transparent, legal and safe for participants,” said Tatiana Dmitrenko, leading expert of the OSCE-UNODC joint project on virtual assets for Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
In 2021, Global Ledger became a strategic partner of the Swiss financial group Promethiem AG.
