UN proposes blockchain for countries losing billions to corruption

Blockchain technology can help governments curb corruption and economic crime. This was stated by David Robinson, regional anti-corruption adviser at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, пишет Cointelegraph.

According to him, blockchain solutions could help recover billions of dollars for countries such as Kenya, which loses up to a third of its budget each year to corruption.

“By tracking transactions, this technology can be used to prevent corruption and protect government registries from fraud and tampering,” Robinson said.

The UN official regards blockchain as a key instrument for boosting trust.

Kenya’s authorities considered the advisability of issuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC). The technology was described as “impressive” by central bank governor Patrick Njoroge.
