Uniswap community selects Wormhole cross-chain bridge to link Ethereum and BNB Chain

Participants of the Uniswap DAO gave the bulk of their votes in favor of the cross-chain bridge Wormhole as the sole bridging link between networks as part of the protocol deployment on the BNB Chain.

Among other candidates were LayerZero (37%), Celer, and deBridge. The latter two received less than 0.1%. The Wormhole project, hacked a year ago for 120,000 WETH, received 62% of the votes.

Some developers spoke out against the Uniswap approach. According to deBridge co-founder Alex Smirnov and Mo Dong of Celer Network, the option with only a single cross-chain bridge creates a single point of failure for the protocol.

Jess Walden, founder of Variant Fund, called the decision by the leading DEX suboptimal. According to him, the platform should use multiple cross-chain bridges to “take advantage of competition.”

Earlier, the Uniswap community supported the deployment of the third version of the protocol on the BNB Chain network.
