Unitree Aims to Sell 20,000 Robots Following Spectacular Gala Performance

Unitree Robotics plans to sell up to 20,000 robots in 2026, up from 5,500 last year.

Chinese firm Unitree Robotics plans to sell up to 20,000 humanoid robots in 2026, a significant increase from approximately 5,500 the previous year. This was announced by the company’s CEO, Wang Xinxin, as reported by SCMP.

Unitree Robotics captured global attention following a performance at a gala celebrating the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year).

The company’s robots performed acrobatic tricks, jumped on trampolines, showcased complex martial arts moves, and executed somersaults.

The company stated that the kung fu segment was performed entirely autonomously, and the entire program included several records, such as trampoline somersaults reaching heights of up to 3 meters and running at a speed of 4 m/s (approximately 14 km/h).

Following the performance, Xinxin stated that global shipments of bots this year could reach “tens of thousands,” with Unitree selling around 10,000–20,000 units.

Unitree Robotics first garnered widespread attention at last year’s show, where the humanoids demonstrated basic movements.

“These innovations are extremely practical and will allow for the mass use of robot groups in the future,” said Xinxin.

He added that during the performance, one bot fell, but this was planned.

Other droids also participated in the show: the human-sized humanoid H2 and the B2-W robot dogs. The stage featured models from three Chinese companies — Magiclab, Galbot, and Noetix.

Technology analyst Patrick Zhang noted that the gala is an ideal demonstration platform, with flat surfaces and predictable airflows.

“In the real world, it’s harder for robots; on stage, they have advantages,” he stated.

In November 2025, China’s National Development and Reform Commission announced that a bubble might be forming in the country’s humanoid robot market.
