US adds crypto-linked criminals to the ‘Most Wanted Fugitives’ list

The U.S. Secret Service published a list of the ‘Most Wanted Fugitives’. It includes several individuals whose crimes are linked to cryptocurrencies.

Most of those on the list are citizens of Russia and Ukraine, who are accused of a range of financial crimes, including securities fraud and money laundering.

Among those named on the list were Russian citizens Danil Potekhin and Dmitry Karasavidi. U.S. authorities allege that they organized a phishing campaign targeting users of cryptocurrency platforms, siphoned off a portion of the illegally obtained funds and manipulated the markets for digital assets.

Rashawd Lamar Tulloch (Rashawd Lamar Tulloch) is also on the list. He is accused of laundering criminal proceeds through Bitcoin.

In addition, the U.S. Secret Service is seeking two Ukrainian citizens Artem Radchenko and Alexander Yeremenko. According to U.S. authorities, they hacked the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) computers and used the information obtained to manipulate the market. A reward of $1 million for information leading to their arrest has been offered for each.

Costa Rican national Allan Garcia, also on the list, is accused of operating the Liberty Reserve payment system. It was used to launder funds and conduct illicit operations. U.S. authorities shut down the platform in 2013.

Last year, Coinbase provided the U.S. Secret Service with its analytics software for tracing blockchain transactions.
