The US and Japan have announced a strategic partnership under the Genesis Mission. The collaboration will encompass quantum information sciences, AI, fusion energy, new materials, and biotechnology.
The partners plan to invest $1 billion over five years, with each side contributing $500 million. Eleven joint teams will integrate 12 national DOE laboratories, one Office of Science user facility, and 12 Japanese research institutes; participants will gain access to DOE computing systems and the Fugaku supercomputer.
